Singer sight, yes I have one.
Stock I don't know,
Sling, yes rubber stamped on the fabric, it was a requirement of the war office.

Re: Field expedient (sort of) pull through

I've done the same trick for a weight myself.
Some weights were also soft iron (steel) also.
You are missing a loop or two in the cordage though.

Re: Ishapore Sling

Depending on the version of the bottom metal you'd use whichever was correct.

Additionally there were commercial models as well like the Parker-Hale.

Re: Ishapore Sling

Re: Ishapore Sling

The British never taught "slinging up" so, to them, it wasn't relevant.

By his telling of the tale its pretty much "get an invite, show up & shoot". Then I went to the website got a very different (& more believabl...

Re: where did you spend 4th of July 1976?

Working afloat. On board the "Cunard Princess" somewhere in the Caribbean, it would depend on the day of the week where I was. OK I checked it was a Sunday so we were at sea running from Port Everglades to Nassau (Bahamas) yes in the Bermuda Triangle. we never left the Bermuda Triangle (which may ex...

Re: spotting scope question

There's a rule in optics. It revolves around insane high magnification claims. Astronomy telescopes aren't "powerful" they are light gatherers, not magnifiers, primarily. It has to do with the way wavelengths of light are "bent" (refracted) in optical glass, but to keep it simple you need 1" of obje...

That's an "Interesting" take on stock finish.
Could the stamps have been scrubbed during the "improvements"
