Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: 1909 Mauser Carbine in .30-06

I had one of the reamed 1909's and the .308" slugs do rattle down the bore ment for .311" bullets. So if you loaded your .311-06 you could milk some accuracy from it. Yes, I had that idea also. Take care that the neck area is wide enough, so as to not squeeze the case neck with the larger b...

Re: Spanish 1916 7.62 ammo?

Israeli ammo from the 80´s? Might be German … reparations and such.

German 7.62 ammo is rather hot, and features a very thin jacket, to aid partition of the bullet on impact.

If German it will be non corrosive, with Sinoxid primer.

Re: Well that's aligned now! (SMLE & PH-5A)

Whats the deal with the 2 knobs on the left side? The push button on the front side is used for zeroing at 200m, and the top knob is turned for sighting in on longer ranges?

I assume, the side scale is adjusted after initial zeroing?

Thanks in advance, Hermann

Re: Re: Lee Enfield no1 mk3 range repot

S & B is owned by Magtech now? Quality never was bad, but seems to be really good now. Their 9 mm "clean" ammo ( "Nontox" ) is REALLY clean burning, cases inside are CLEAN, and guns need far less than usual cleaning in the breech area. Also shoots accurately. ( 9 mm Parabellum, 95 grs JSP TC !! )( i...

Re: Ishapore Sling

Wow!

Could you please elaborate on that "King screw" thing? Was this common?

Perhaps show a pic, what that looks like "in action"? ( in use, aiming, posed )

Now with that peep it looks REALLY "business like"! ( P H 5A? )

;-)

Ishapore Sling

Hello! I assume, that India used the standard British sling for the Ishapore 2A1s. The cotton webbing with the "open" "bosses"? ( I think these are "open" so the sling is easily fitted or removed? ) Now that may be practical in Military use, easily lenghtened and shortened for slinging or shooting, ...

Re: Ishapore mag capacity

All aftermarket mags seem to be 10 rounders, but regrettably nobody is still selling outside US. Although all legal and 10 rds for a bolt action rifle … the compamies say, it´s so much of a hussle, because of US regulations! And I still would like a 12 rd mag as a military boss/decider/Chief: first ...

Ishapore mag capacity

I own an Ishapore, but not for long. Mine has, although marked "2A1" the 2.000 yds sight. And it has a 10 rd mag. Now there were recently 2 Ishis offered, and BOTH have 10 rd mags. Now I thought, and read on the Internet, that 12 rd mags were standard, and 10 rd mags the eception of the rule … Is th...

Steyr 1912 rebarreled after WWII to .308?

Hello!

Somebody offered me a Steyr 1912, which - his talking - was adapted in 1961 for the NATO cartridge, but was never issued, and is in beautiful condition. Bore "unused".

What do you all think? Ever heard of such rifles? It´s quite long, no carbine / Karabiner.

Thanks in Advance, Hermann

Re: Mauser 98 metallurgy over the decades - DWM 1908/1909 vs Mauser 1935

The Mauser 1908 and 1909, and the Steyr 1912 are sought because of their exceptional quality and finish ( if you can get a nice one ). Just be sure they are matching numbers. I am NOR sure, but could it be, that the 1930´s Mausers are SMALL ring Mausers? meaning, the diameter of the system forward "...
