Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Military Museum Pivka Slovenia

Wow, thanks for the offer! I'll keep you informed if this trip happens (coordinating so many people for a trip is like herding cats!) and I'll take your offer! I'll make sure not to come empty handed them, and will bring caviar and vodka.

Re: Military Museum Pivka Slovenia

The coolest thing is when you realise that some of these German, US and Soviet made items were sometimes in use in the same army, at the same time! Because the JNA had lots German or German-inspired small arms (M48 Mausers, MG42 copies, even StG-44s for their paratroopers) and artillery (to the poin...

Re: Hi from a globe-trotter

Thanks! Sadly I'm not a citizen there and am thus not allowed to own firearms on the Russian territory. So far, I did shoot a little, but only on indoor ranges... I'll try and see if I can find an outdoors range with rental Mosins (or rental anything Russian, that is). Plus, Russia's had above avera...

Re: SSG-82

I've heard of some guy who had one on the mosin nagant forum. Unfortunately enough (for me), he was selling it in the USA, and it's almost impossible to have it shipped to where I live...

Re: German and Russian Exploding sniper ammo during WW II

As far as I've heard, they were used as spotting/signalling ammo. Pretty much "look, there's going to be a flash, all machine guns shoot at the location of the flash as soon as they see it". Plus, according to several reports and books I've read, it was used by snipers to shoot very important target...

Re: French Lebel

Well, it's an emblematic rifle, and it's quite unique, with its tubular magazine! I have one as well and really enjoy myself whenever I'm shooting it. Apart from the accuracy (well, with a barrel THAT long, it's difficult NOT to be accurate), what I like is that the recoil is actually mild, as far a...

Re: Yugo M48 Series?

Well color me surprised, I'm Belgian myself (disregard the flag, it's just that I'm in Russia right now and was afraid to be flagged as a potential spammer if I put a Belgian flag with my Russian IP) and didn't know the first Yugo Mausers were made by Herstal. My main topic of interest is post war s...

Hi from a globe-trotter

Hello everyone! I'm Olivier, from Belgium, although I'm writing from Russia right now! I've joined this forum as a huge military history enthusiast. I collect mostly WW2 Soviet and Cold War East Bloc militaria, and shoot as a sport. My weapon collection includes a 1934 hex receiver Tula Mosin Nagant...
