Re: A decent priced .312 bullet to buy...........

Cast gas-checked and/or powder coated, from places like Gardner’s Cache (check his sizing) at 15 to 18-cents each or so delivered ... is hard to beat! My Mosin prints them all inside the 9-ring SR black bullseye using them at the 200-yard matches! But of course for the match, I have to shoot them of...

Re: Repaired a duffel cut. Feedback welcome.

Nice work! I have one I’m doing to a kar98K bring back that was captured/‘reclaimed’ during the liberation of Pilsen, CZ.

Re: Where in America can I buy

I use a few fired primers, inserted in pocket but not fully seated, as with good measuring technique the results are accurate & repeatable!

Re: Cases cracking in type 30

Yes, sounds to me you are pushing the shoulder back too far when full-length sizing, then it is expanding and moving forward to fill the generous chamber. This ‘pulls’ the brass from the rim area and causes the case separation. Some, myself included, use a hook type tool to help identify any ‘step’ ...

Re: Old west Bullet mould, for Vetterli??

I just put bullets in a ziplok bag & tumble w/ a squirt of Lee liquid Alox, then set them on a piece of wax paper or plastic to dry.

Re: New Here From Mississippi

Welcome! And thanks to your Dad for his service! I find that period that interests you to be the most fascinating too, as just look up the Italian 1870 Vetterli I have posted about. It has a bolt like a modern rifle, but in its 1st generation (pre-1870) it had an external hammer, as the military bra...

Re: vetterli carbine at range.

Wished there was a good way to calculate chamber pressures (without a headache of course) based on given cartridge and velocity information. I believe the Quick Load program gives an estimate of that. FYI, in my Italian Vetterli-Vitali I am using SR-4759 18-22, 22 for heavier [300] grain bullets) a...
