Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Auto Ordinance M1 Carbine

Found out the wife likes the Carbine. I got rid of mine since we live in the "peoples state of repression". Does anyone have any experience with the Auto Ordinance rifles? https://www.auto-ordnance.com/auto-ordnance-m1-carbine/ I suppose I could get one with a 10 rnd magazine, or better, wait till w...

Re: Winter glove trigger for your M1 & others

When it gets below zero here, you really don't want to take off your gloves or mittens to disengage the safety. With decent gloves, there's little room (usually none) to get your finger into the forged trigger guard either. The stamped trigger guard has more room. I suspect the rifle was carried loa...

Re: China

I have read of scenarios where China and Russia invade the US. This would be after an EMP attack. Wait a year and 90% of the North American population will be dead. I read a Congressional report on the effects of an EMP attack. We'll be back to 1800's technology without the infrastructure to support...

Re: 7.55 swiss 175smk?

I've gotten good accuracy with WW760 and 180gr Sierra BT HP bullets. Put all six into a 1 inch cluster at 100 yards.

Re: Model 1917 Bullet weight

One M1917 I worked with 40 years ago had the original bbl. It shot extremely well with 165gr boat tails. Ten shots into a cluster 1 x 1.5 inches. More recently I worked with one having a JA 2-groove bbl. After some internal polishing it shoots 1 to 1.5 inch groups with 147gr FMJBT surplus bullets. I...

Garand vs. M14

Been reading a paper on infantry weapon development, performance and recommendations which examined the Garand, M14 and AR15/M16 rifles. Interesting that in the hands of trained infantry in all cases, the Garand outperformed the M14 for typical small-unit engagements. While it has to be reloaded mor...

Re: 8x52R Siamese with surplus powder & heavy bullet

Sounds like a good load.

For reference, that bullet also works well in the Lebel and the Austro-Hungarian M95.

Re: Mosin CAD Drawing

Probably there aren't any good engineering drawings for the receiver outside of archived records at a US manufacturer, or an old former communist one. That's probably why you haven't gotten any replies.

Re: HARD to lock clips in

Greasing the op-rod catch really made a difference with a hard to load Garand I worked on. Go here to the section "Additional Areas to Grease:" item 1. http://www.garandgear.com/m1-garand-grease Additionally, be certain ALL cartridges are seated to the flat rear part of the clip. A slightly high rou...

They are also very good shooters (accurate). Congratulations on one of the better SKS variations.

Gun control is intended to protect those who ban the equipment to begin with. It's been proven to make crime worse.

M91 Moisin Nagant in US Service

Not so well known, the US Army used M91s built for Russia (and not delivered) a fair amount in WWI:

So those were even an issued rifle for US troops.

Re: French Rifles in German hands

The M1886 Lebel is one of the most unjustifiably "panned" surplus rifles around. I used one for a year as a utility rifle and became quite fond of it. It's no slower to operate than most of the other rifles with a straight bolt handle forward of the rear receiver ring. In the engagements I read abou...

What condition you're in (you're health) and how you live (diet and exercise) make the most difference. That leaves out traffic accidents and the like.
