Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Nice rifle! I have a 28-30 that was once a 28-76 but now a regular infantry rifle... can’t figure out why that happened!
M28/57 Maybe?

Re: New Finnish M28-76

I'll probably have to slug the bore, but does anyone know if these came with a .308 or a .311 bore?

Damn, Rob. That is amazing out of an old Mosin. Amazing that the Tika barrels didn't do better.

New Finnish M28-76

I haven't seen many of these lately and grabbed it at auction when I saw this one. Only have the auction pics now https://i.imgur.com/qCaOc1u.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/VxinTyN.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/M3rzqDd.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zx7LHcu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TAWaL6Y.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TN...

Re: 1903 Springfield Griffin and Howe 28" target rifle

From what I've learned, prior to Ben Comfort using a rifle chambered in 300 H&H magnum, most bull guns were chambered in 30.06 (like my rifle) and based on a 1903 Springfield action. I mounted a Lyman Super Targetspot on my rifle and comparing it to Ben Comfort's Wimbledon "Bull Gun" is what convinc...

Re: Acquired a 98/22

Vastly underrated rifles that suffer from the (ongoing) Turk curse. They're extremely well made, and most have new barrels. I bought mine as a hand-pick when they were $79. Mine seems to prefer 150-154 grain bullets, and shoots the Turkish surplus pretty well. Hand loaded with 150 grain bullets and...

Re: 1903 Springfield Griffin and Howe 28" target rifle

Thanks, shoot4fun. I've come to believe that this was built as a Wimbledon style "bull gun". I found this article about a Wimbledon "Bull Gun" made by Griffin and Howe for Ben Comfort, who won the 1935 Wimbledon match with it. Comfort's rifle was chambered in 300 H&H. and was built on a Remington mo...

Re: 1903 Springfield Griffin and Howe 28" target rifle

I heard back from Bob Beach, the now-retired historian for Griffin and Howe... "I regret that I have retired from doing the research and letters of provenance effective the end of 2018. There is a current G&H employee who intends to continue the service but it will take some time to rearrange his pr...

Re: New (to me) Ljungman

Don't get hung up on the stock disk "number" for bore condition. I have read many post from new owners that they praise the rifle because the stock disk was marked "1" and the other marks showing no wear. How long ago was that disk stamped? How many rounds have been fired through it since then? How...

Re: New (to me) Ljungman

Finally brought the Ljungman home and looked it over. Metal is in pretty good condition, Stock has a few dings and gouges. https://i.imgur.com/hx7pF4v.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/okjorbE.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/6xDGI3j.jpg?1 The bore looks pretty good, but the stock disc shows a "3" https://i.imgur....

Re: Vintage Military Semi Auto Rifle Silhoueete Match

Where in CA is this? We are fortunate to have at least a couple dozen regulars (plus stragglers) that support vintage-ONLY matches in Southern NV. We have two every month (one for bolt, one for semi-) that are 150-400 yards, and one every month (except summer) that is 200 - 900 meters. The shorter ...

Re: Acquired a 98/22

The weather warmed a bit and I made it to the range today to shoot the Czech 98/22. I always shoot in the middle of the day on weekdays, so even though we have over 300 members, I'm usually the only one on the property, one of the benefits of being retired. I used 175 grain copper jacketed bullets ...
