Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: MAB modele D

You can mark your stuff with red steel rule die like I do for 7.65mm French long brass, an even rarer bird.

I beleive it is made by Dykem.

Re: MAB modele D

32ACP is pleasant to shoot. I have begun casting my own bullets for it as well. Too bad 32ACP cases do not litter the range like 9mm ones. Looks like I might look for one again.

Re: Frommer Stop

Start looking for parts guns, or one that is complete. You never know what you will find. Nice gun BTW.

Re: Need Lebel Parts To Copy

I hand fitted the magazine piston into the magazine tube today. It was a loose slip fit and then I put the assembly into the action and the lift gate had no interference, so that was a good sign. The magazine piston is still a solid shape, but I cut the contours and steps on it and took it to length...

Re: Need Lebel Parts To Copy

Made the magazine piston stop tube and lower assembly piece, but still have to epoxy it together. Also working on the band springs by hand fitting them to the stock. Slow, but rewarding work.

I will actually go see the movie in a theater, Midway that is. 1917, not so much.

I have access to a CNC machine, but it isn't that easy.

Re: Need Lebel Parts To Copy

I shall try that myself. I did look at google images for Lebel prints, but didn't find what I could use. I did find my cell phone has better displays than my computer when I zoom in. I got a better idea on some dimensions now. I would have never guessed that one. Oh well, time to get some sleep so I...

Re: 1866 front stock band

I find those hard to make and lucky I still have mine. The walls and shapes are hard to reproduce. Also, the stacking hook would require a knowledge of welding to attach to the band. The band also fits tightly on the end of the fore end. It is a lot of work to get right. Now, if I knew how to do mor...

Re: Lebel prices

Oh, the Legion is carrying Berthiers in the top picture. I believe the Bertheir was issued outside of France in large numbers while the Lebel stayed home so to say.

Re: Lebel prices

Basically the same rifle but with black powder. Strong enough for smokeless I read though.

Re: Lebel prices

You know, a cheaper way to acquire a rifle of this era is to get a Mauser 1871/1884 or a Kropatchek by Steyr. While both are black powder cartridge rifles, they do have a similar type tube magazine. Cases, bullets and reloading tooling aren't as easy to come by though. I have had to make my own more...

Re: Need Lebel Parts To Copy

Working on the magazine piston stop tube using some 303 stainless steel now. The bore isn't complete, but it does slip fit into the fore arm just right. Hope to CNC the bottom piece to exact size and then epoxy them together. I'll file in some notches to give the glue a place to hold. Solder doesn't...

Re: 7.65 French Long.

I think I am using a RCBS #12 shell holder that works. I do have the CH4D reloading set and their shell holder apparently does not work. That is rather sad. Also, the Lee #7 for 32acp is a no go.

Mark
