Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

1886 Steyr, "The Kropatschek"

Anybody got one of these Steyr made Kropatschek tube magazine wonders supplied to the Portuguese? I managed to make twenty 8mm by 60R cases made from .348 Winchester and loaded them up with black powder. The cases needed their rims machined and I copied the taper from a pack of blanks from the real ...

Model 1871/84 Cases

I had a problem using Starline 45-90 brass to make 11mm Mauser cases. The narrower rim allowed the primer to back out almost exactly the same distance the 45-90 brass was narrower than the standard rim spec. After looking for a solution, an old SRF member suggested I simply superglue on a shim. Not ...

Re: Help needed in saving an 1886/93 Lebel

I have an el cheapo 5mm by 0.9 thread die. Right now we are busy at work, so getting one of these made may take some time. The screw in the bolt appears to be a #12-24 and we only had a #12-28 die, which isn't even on any charts I've seen online. Again, We are busy at work, so getting one of these m...

Re: what ever happened to.......

Don't you just love the way they are yards away from the blast and suffer no ill effects as seen on the last clip? I think that was the only use of nukes I saw in the whole movie. I also play Starcraft2, so I have another interest in the Starship Trooper series. Not as many nukes in the game either....

Re: what ever happened to.......

Ummh, I saw something for real like that at a South Korean armed forces event on TV recently. My Korean brother in-law's wife was warning her son not to embarrass her at the range with "Uncle Mark" as she trained on a M1 carbine in high school. He struck a bulls eye with a Springfield trapdoor on hi...

Re: Chassepot to FAMAS book

Pricy as in, does this guy teach this stuff as a college course and require it as mandatory reading pricy? Isn't he the guy in "Forgotten Weapons"? I was just looking at his videos on the Lebel and MAS-36. He only charges $30 more for a signed copy, how generous. He must be going to the Pete Rose sc...

Re: Second Time

I quit a range that didn't even have any RSOs. Too much stupid stuff to imagine. A few videos like that go public and what do you think will happen?

Re: Wal mart

Every big business has its lobbyists in Washington and Walmart is no exception. As to Walmart being part of the US government, I think your civics teacher has failed you miserably and the Walton family would like to have some words with you.

Defiantly personal atomic weapons used in the book "Starship Troopers". See you on the bounce. Forget the movie, not enough nukes like the book.

Re: Help needed in saving an 1886/93 Lebel

The bolt that holds the bolt head to the main bolt appears to be a #12-24 thread and not a metric one. I happen to have a button die for that. The Harbor Freight set I have also has a thread counting gauge in each of its standard and metric sets and the only one that bolt came close to was #12-24. M...

Re: Help needed in saving an 1886/93 Lebel

I just tried to use a Berthier bolt screw that holds the bolt head to the bolt in my Lebel and almost permanently got the bolt head locked in the chamber. Luckily I had a working Lebel bolt screw to put in place and get the bolt head out again! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED . The shorter Bertheir bolt screw ...

Re: Help needed in saving an 1886/93 Lebel

Okay, I just so happen to have a Berthier M1892 carbine and M1886 Lebel to compare parts with. First, they look a lot alike. Second, dimensionally, except for overall length, they seem pretty much interchangeable as their measurements are within .005" of each other (common standard manufacturing tol...

Re: Help needed in saving an 1886/93 Lebel

Numrich does have a schematic of a Berthier rifle bolt, 1890 and 1916. Perhaps they are the same, or at least you could use those to show me what you got, or are missing.

Re: Help needed in saving an 1886/93 Lebel

Maybe this weekend I can take mine apart and take a picture of it for you. Ummh, now to remember how to take it out and then apart. French armorers did not want the grunts to take their rifles apart easily. Perhaps they had me in mind?

Re: Help needed in saving an 1886/93 Lebel

Ebay and Gunbroker are your best bets for finding parts if Numrich doesn't have them. I don't know if Numrich has a schematic of a stripped bolt.

Mark
