Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: Heat Treated Cast Bullets

I do have to give my $7 toaster oven at least one go of it. I can try to plop them into water immediately method as well. I'll also attempt to use my lead hardness tester and see if their is any difference. Best Regards, Mark BTW< I think an article in the LA Silhouette Club mentioned using a tin pi...

Re: 1886 Steyr, "The Kropatschek"

Okay Vandle, I might be able to recommend a fix for you. I thought it might be a coil spring, but it is a leaf spring. Those can be made from steel banding material to keep heavy packages together, like on a pallet. You can bend it by hand and likely grind it to whatever size you need by hand on a s...

Re: Help needed in saving an 1886/93 Lebel

Okay, now that I know what that thread is, I can likely actually use a #12-24 die to make it. 5.5mm by 1.0 threads are .03937" wide per tooth. 24 threads per inch are .0416" wide per tooth. I think it has a good chance to function regardless especially since so little thread is needed. 5.5mm by 1 is...

They have quite a character,...don't they? Oh, did I mention history? Personally, I really like their looks.

Re: 1886 Steyr, "The Kropatschek"

The blank ammo was great for having something to set up with when converting .348 brass.

Ummh, now I got to take the receiver apart and look at the spring......this should be fun.

Re: Help needed in saving an 1886/93 Lebel

Ummh, got my French dictionary in my toolbox (no joke). I might give it a go tomorrow. I did notice they were discussing heat treating down at the bottom of page two. Looks like he might have made his own cutters to do some of those screws. I presently do not have a lathe to turn threads on, just a ...

1886 Steyr, "The Kropatschek"

Anybody got one of these Steyr made Kropatschek tube magazine wonders supplied to the Portuguese? I managed to make twenty 8mm by 60R cases made from .348 Winchester and loaded them up with black powder. The cases needed their rims machined and I copied the taper from a pack of blanks from the real ...

Model 1871/84 Cases

I had a problem using Starline 45-90 brass to make 11mm Mauser cases. The narrower rim allowed the primer to back out almost exactly the same distance the 45-90 brass was narrower than the standard rim spec. After looking for a solution, an old SRF member suggested I simply superglue on a shim. Not ...

Re: Help needed in saving an 1886/93 Lebel

I have an el cheapo 5mm by 0.9 thread die. Right now we are busy at work, so getting one of these made may take some time. The screw in the bolt appears to be a #12-24 and we only had a #12-28 die, which isn't even on any charts I've seen online. Again, We are busy at work, so getting one of these m...

Re: what ever happened to.......

Don't you just love the way they are yards away from the blast and suffer no ill effects as seen on the last clip? I think that was the only use of nukes I saw in the whole movie. I also play Starcraft2, so I have another interest in the Starship Trooper series. Not as many nukes in the game either....

Re: what ever happened to.......

Ummh, I saw something for real like that at a South Korean armed forces event on TV recently. My Korean brother in-law's wife was warning her son not to embarrass her at the range with "Uncle Mark" as she trained on a M1 carbine in high school. He struck a bulls eye with a Springfield trapdoor on hi...

Re: Chassepot to FAMAS book

Pricy as in, does this guy teach this stuff as a college course and require it as mandatory reading pricy? Isn't he the guy in "Forgotten Weapons"? I was just looking at his videos on the Lebel and MAS-36. He only charges $30 more for a signed copy, how generous. He must be going to the Pete Rose sc...

I quit a range that didn't even have any RSOs. Too much stupid stuff to imagine. A few videos like that go public and what do you think will happen?

Every big business has its lobbyists in Washington and Walmart is no exception. As to Walmart being part of the US government, I think your civics teacher has failed you miserably and the Walton family would like to have some words with you.

Defiantly personal atomic weapons used in the book "Starship Troopers". See you on the bounce. Forget the movie, not enough nukes like the book.
