Re: M91/59 stock crack

The key is the de-grease in the crack. Acetone is your friend. If you can coat the out side with "whiting" then sweat it out with heat and do the final rinse with acetone more the better. My shop does this regularly with O/U and SxS shotguns. Many drenched in gun oil. Our fixes have yet to fail in o...

Yep. The stock stamps look just like the ones Numrich and SARCO sells.

Re: Who is making .318" bullets?

The "bore" (ie. between the lands) diameter may be .318 but what is the groove diameter? You don't select a bullet on European bore diameter. It has to fit the groove. Any Spanish 8x57 rifle I know of namely the Model 43 shoots the 8x57 round with a .323-.324 diameter bullet.

Thanks for those pics! I guess we can see where Redfield started with the rear windage one-piece base.

Re: Ishapore scope mount?

Well, ended up ordering the S&K mount as a D&T wasn't available. It sure looked shaky but mounted solid. Took about two hours with a Dremel on the synthetic stock to properly mount it. thanks for the recommendation!

Re: what to do with 1909 arg ?

I think 8mm is also a great choice. Barrels are very available and economically priced. Components as well. I've got a mutt K98k with a Czech surplus barrel on it. I handload Rem 185 grain .323 bullets and it shoots sub MOA if I do my part.

Re: Scoped the MAS 36

I did a lot of looking and found very few examples of the 36 having been scoped and if there was one issued that way I didn't find it. That doesn't mean that it was never done but all I found were one off special set ups here and there. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/GuzziRider/20171212_1612...

Re: Rust Bluing Tips?

Suspend the parts in a pot large enough so they don't touch water. Cover with aluminum foil. Use 2 pints tap water and steam for 10 minutes. Don't need to worry about water quality and much faster.

Boil the magazine in water for 30 minutes. Soak in ATF. Then card with 0000 steel wool.

Re: R. FAMAGE pawnshop-sporter project

When you consider these rifles were originally chambered for 7x57, then armory re-bored, rifled and chambered to .30-06, it is miraculous that they shoot as good as they do. A 1.25 in group at 100 yds is plenty good to have a 400 yd hunting rifle.

Ishapore scope mount?

Need a drill and tap scope base for a 2A MIII Ishapore. Anyone know of a source? I've scoured the internet with no luck. Seems like Weaver used to make one as did a couple of other companies.

Re: How many hours of work to make a Mauser Receiver

I realize that arms manufacturers will make parts in batches and then assemble them. Also there are some examples that I read about like the Radom factory & Czech factories being taken over with large stocks of receivers captured and then used to assemble new rifles... So I ask.. How many man hours...
