Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Re: SKS ballistics strangeness

An SKS is zero at 25 yards and again at 100 yards. The 25 is good to get the 100 zeroed on paper at the range. PAX

MAD MAXX & the Khyber Pass Boys

Hi Fellas, I built a home grown SKS Paratrooper quite some time ago. Numbers all match, in the white mostly. It came to me cut , and this is what I did with it. After facing the muzzle & adding an 11* target crown and a short TriDelta 14X1 LH brake, I put on a Prince 50 front sight, and a Williams F...

Any suggestions on which milsurp Ammo is best (safe) to use in the FN?
I can't give you any specifics, but I know it's not unusual to run across mil surp that's for machine guns. It's too hot for the FN49. PAX

Re: Arisaka rifle

Sorry S, no luck. I found a circular nut, but it doesn't fit any of the fine threaded screws, and nothing with a 90* shoulder, or flat like a lug would be. PAX

I have access to a barrel. What does it take to swap them out?
Someone whose done it before, more than once, or a competent smith. PAX

Re: My first FN-49!

You really shouldn't be needing to remove the cap often, if you've blued the new threads and Loctite it on.
You'll be needing a copy of the book "The FN-49 The Last Elegant Old-World Military Rifle" by Wayne Johnson. Also, there are 8MM barrels out there for pretty cheap. PAX

Re: My first FN-49!

You didn't mention if it had an eagle or a crown on the receiver or if it matched. $600 isn't too terrible in the worst case scenario, there's not that many of them. I agree that a replicap would be best.PAX

Re: Winchester M1 Garand

Well Fellas, I was surprised at the rapid replies I received from the various Boards I'm on. I got this list sent to me, and went with #5 just to have it if/when needed. 1. SA 6(or 8?)-48, TE=3, MW=3, chromed gas cylinder pads........$90 2. SA 9-64, TE=3+, MW=4.....$75 3. SA 3-44, TE=4+, MW=4......$...

Winchester M1 Garand

Hi Fellas,

I've got a Winchester receivered M1 with a shot out Springfield barrel. Has some other Winchester stamped parts. What are my options to get it to be a decent shooter? It's my onliest M1. Thanks PAX

Re: what is best

With an SKS "BEST" can be the luck of the draw. As far as accuracy goes, most all Paratroopers are a tad "more accurate", than any standard length rifle out to 100 yards. I suspect that it has to do with harmonics AND a fresh crown. A pinned barrel is as likely to be as good a shooter as a screwed b...

Re: Va has fallen.

Man, you VA guys better throw down some voter pressure. I'm in Kali and the battle has been endless. Good luck, but I don't like the feel of it, it's cancerous. Seems like some States are trying to out regulate Kali & the north eastern seaboard. PAX
