Would a vz24 receiver and barrel fit directly into a K98 stock? I know the upper hand guard wont fit but
I'm just wondering about the lower stock.

I had a K98 action from a sporter that matched with an almost new barrel and it dropped into a Vz 24 stock with no problem. I did not have to mess with the barrel inletted ridges -- not sure how it works in reverse. Here is a "tid bit" of info:
K-98 handguard ring at the rear of the rear sight mount will stop the rifle from fitting into the stock. you will have to carve a very little bit of wood for it seat perfectly.
But there are some Vz 24 stocks notched for a bent bolt and some not notched for a straight bolt. My Vz 24 stock had a notch, so the bent bolt on the K98 fit. K98 stocks are harder to find and much more expensive than a Vz 24 stock , something like 80 bucks for a Vz 24 stock and $200-400 for a k98 stock. Why not just buy a cheeper Vz 24 stock ? Keep the intact k98 stock as a trade item. Then the rifle is complete. Be sure the stock is from an 8mm Vz and not a 7mm Vz. Mine was off an 8mm brno Vz 24 and the K98 action fit. I assume your Vz 24 is 8mm ??? Not 7 mm South American ??

supporting evidence: ... milarities ... k-question ... p?t=583957

a little pricy VZ24 stock but no hand guard or metal -- price is nuts. ... ategory=40
