Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

French Lebel

#1 Post by nrobertb » Thu Oct 26, 2017 4:37 pm

Here are some photos of my French Lebel, cal. 8mm Lebel. It is a good shooter and I like it a lot but it is a heavy old clunker.

That looks to be in great condition.

Alot of the ones I see at shows if any, are in ordinary condition that come with extortion prices.

I love those 1886 lebels, there is a real nice short French training film showing the change from the 1886 to Berthier rifles.. I love the Dancing clip scene, Reminds me of something that George Melies would have directed.. You have wonder if he or one of his students did this film..

The great lady should never be called a clunker. Shame, shame, shame.

Best Regards,

I used a Lebel for nearly a year as a utility rifle, and really liked it. It handled well, shot as well as it's contemporaries, functioned reliably; and was plenty powerful for my bad neighbors.
Arguing with someone who denounces reason is like administering medicine to a corpse.
