Early War MAS Mle 36

Post by B32dominator »

Finished a great collecting year off with completing my WWII major contribution collection, an early war MAS Mle 36. These are pretty rare up on the tundra, the only one I’ve seen here was a sporter model at Cabelas 9 years ago. It’s a May 1940 production, just prior or during the German invasion. It has all the prewar/early war details, it is all matching other than the bolt which is off an earlier G series. The bore is great and can’t wait to shoot it and see how she performs.

One of these 36s has been on my list to pick up for a long time but you rarely see them available in good condition in there original caliber. Nice find

I have been looking for one that has been converted into 308 and then another that has caught my fancy was the 22 lr trainer version of that rifle..

Saw one at the Tulsa show.. it was from a pretty big gun seller on Gunbroker, he had a nice 22 lr trainer.. But every time I asked about if they had the
special 22 adapter cartridge the lady just gave me a dumb look.. and did not know.

Ok, I love these early black ones that have not been redone. Matching is really neat. Too bad the bolt is off another rifle. Does the bayonet match?

It is in French but has great close up views of the different parts contrasting the early war 36s and late rebuilt Mas 36s.

A great example of the early black paint. Perfect example with great reference photos.
