Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.
M38 Carcano FAT41
M38 Carcano FAT41
I got this M38 Carcano rifle beside HSc pistol yesterday. All matching FAT41 - fabbrica d'armi di Terni year of production 1941. It is in 6,5 mm caliber. Never dissassembled. Nice metal and wood and everythind is very dry. The barrel is pitted but stil strong rifling.
From my local area. I am very happy.

Nice looking. Never seen one with that sling setup before. Do you have any pics of that setup?
Re: M38 Carcano FAT41
Yes, it is true. Me nider I have never seen this set before. I should clean the barrel but i will not dissassemble the rifle. All screws are intact.

Re: M38 Carcano FAT41
Looks like the rear sling swivel and front band very similar to a Carcano 41 long rifle.
Both manufactured at Terni and both 1941.

The front barrel band is different to the 41 long rifle, never seen that before either.
Normally the side sling loop is fixed. I haven,t been able to find an references to this type of barrel band

Re: M38 Carcano FAT41
That is really fantastic.. I came across one carbine that has the lower sling mounts.. But this does not have the side mounts.. That forward barrel band is like nothing I can ever recall.. Very neat..

Do think it might be a vet return ?
Re: M38 Carcano FAT41
The rifle was hidden in the house after the Second world War the cause of the hunting and "just in case" reason!

Very nice find!
According to a wartime OSS agent posted to Slovenia during the war, entire Partisan units were armed with Italian small arms after the armistice in September 1943.

Re: M38 Carcano FAT41
Please for some education on that Carcano FAT41!
After detailed serch I noticed that the Carcano M38 rifle does not have a Fascist year number. Is it normal for that year (1941) of production?
Thanks

Re: M38 Carcano FAT41
Could that be a M38 Carcano in a 91/24 stock?
