Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

I picked up what I thought was a Carcano today

The rifle is a Type I . It has the type I rear sight .As stated , look for the stripper clip guide . It will be in 6.5 Arisaka . A chamber cast will be a waste of time as the 6.5 Jap is so close to a 6.5 Carcano it will chamber and fire in the Carcano .
Well, contrary to opinion here I cast the chamber and low and behold it turned out to be 54mm in length not the usual 50mm so I'm wndering if this is a 6.5 Mannlicher Schonauer instead of 6.5Jap?

The chamber cast would not tell the 6.5 J from the 6.5 It . It will tell you someone has messed with the chamber if your cast is right . A type I was never made in 6.5x54mm .

Did you mark the rifle 6.5x54 or was it like that ? Other than the shoulder angle / lenght , there is no difference between the 6.5x52 It and the 6.5x54 ms with Norma cases . The cases are the same total length . One of my Carcano's will even chamber the 6.5x54 ms with force . My type I's will not even come close , they will not even chamber 6.5 Jap that has been fired in a T-38 . Since your rifle was a collection of incorrect parts at first , who knows what someone did to the chamber .

Not my video, just thought others maybe interested in what others think about these rifles and their production. Please read the comments below the video, also?
