I picked up a Mossberg 42M(C) a few months ago. It was more or less a project gun. Light rust on most of the exposed metal. Heavy crud and dirt all over the stock. No iron sights, bad Western Fields scope. And the scope mount was not stock so extra holes were drilled. I don't think it shoots to bad after a call to Havalin Sales and some cleaning.

I would bet as soon as you find the "proper fodder" for it (and get some trigger time with it), those groups will shrink some more. My Mossbergs are some of the sweetest shooting guns I've ever shot.
