Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Iraqi marked M48BO

#1 Post by gunhorde » Sun Mar 10, 2019 12:49 am

I was shopping at a local gun show this morning and stumbled across this one. I've been slowly building a small Yugoslavian Mauser collection for the past few years and this was one I've needed.

Iraqi "Jeem" stamp on the receiver ring, stamped matching receiver, bolt, magplate and stock.

Yes a great find. :o  I wish I could stumble around like that now. Back in the day of the M48 and M48A Yugo mausers, these were a hard find as well as the Yugo with trench art carvings in the stock. I actually passed on two of these because the Yugo crest was missing    I kind of ignored the little Iraqi mark. Ya, and at the last gun show a guy had $800 on one. Live & learn. Back then 2001-2003?? our Fleet and Farm store had boxes of Century, Excellent graded Yugo M48 series at $79. Later they had M24/47 mausers in a beat condition-- Century very good condition marked on the box. The M48s and M48As came with a sling, bayonet, and an odd ball cleaning kit. I love the Trench art ones, but the only ones I found had names carved into the stock. Never did find a super example. I do love intact M1924 Yugo mausers.
This is the quality I desired, but never found:

Yugo Mausers are a great rifle to collect and shoot
To old to fight and to old to run, a Jar head will just shoot and be done with you.

Nice! I check every M48 I see hoping to find one. There is a royal Iraqi crested one on gunbroker right now. I've also been looking for a Syrian in person for awhile.
