A few years back I won this at an estate auction. It is in excellent shape, but has been lightly sported...someone filled in the sling cutout in the stock :(

The model 49 is similar to the Model 30, but was produced in Iran.

Metal is in excellent condition, as is the bore.

I've never seen the sling cut out filled in like that before. For what it's worth, it looks like they did a good job.

Just a really stupid question, it was just a hole, could the filler be removed??? What did they use Wood putty or actual carved wood????

It looks pretty good, but I wish they had let it alone ;)

It is hard to tell whether it is filler or they glued some wood blocks in and sanded.

They seem to shoot really well also, based on the one and only one I ever owned.

Attached is a pic of my Persian M1930. She's a real beauty, too. Haven't had a chance to try her out yet.

That is a great looking rifle, nm.

I've got to post some of my other Persians. They are all great rifles.

Very nice. Mine like many others has a blondeish colored stock.

Thanks, md.

Years ago, SAMCO, an importer, sold 98/29 Persian Mausers (the long ones). They had a grade known as "no blue" that they sold for $199. They weren't literally "no blue", but the finish was pretty bad, although the metal and wood were in very good shape. I bought several of them and got them refinished. They look pretty good now.

I'll have to post some pictures of them.

The story I heard on the No Blues was the metal finish got messed up during a cleaning process after they were shipped to the U.S.

That is pretty much what I heard and observed.
