First of all i didnt get a sling with my PU but i dont think anyone gets one with their PU. Is the original style sling worth actually using as a sling or should i get a modern one to actually use?

Anyone actually have an original good condition Mosin Sling?

I got one from this guy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mosin-Nagant-Or ... 3459646%26

It was in good shape and worked great. It also really looks good on the rifle. I think they were made in 1949, so maybe not an exact match for the year of your rifle if you are into historic accuracy, but pretty hard to beat for the price.

Actualy WWII slings are rare to find. I've bought them through eBay like the ones above, through Liberty Tree and from private sellers on other fora. I'd go with one of the post war production actuals over some cheap knock-off.

How do you know the date of production on them?

You can see the 49 stamped on the sling in the picture.
