Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

I check around the internet for you but came up empty. Ebay showed some promise but only if you are willing to purchase a complete band. Screws by themselves is a no go.

Yep, you buy a complete band and consider yourself lucky if you find the correct one. If I remember correct there are prewar & post war thicker stocks so you have to measure the distance at the screw to be sure you have the correct band. Not cheep, parts have tripled in the last 15 years... I'd say $25-40 bucks at a gun show, more if you got to pay shipping & tax due to some places have a minimum shipping/handling cost approximately $10 for even one tiny part. For correct restorations, If you see the correct part, buy it before it's gone. Or you make a screw and rethread the band -a bubba job. :snooty:

You might be lucky and find an oval head old dirty similar screw you can modify if you got boxes of saved screws. Such a similar headed with the same shank screw can cut down & retread with some fine threads (Most likely not correct but most will not know ) if you have a general automotive larger tap & die set. If you got to buy tools, just get an original replacement band. If you file or cut the metal, the new surface can be aged with aging solutions to make the screw look vintage with a nice patina.

Is your original stripped or missing?
To old to fight and to old to run, a Jar head will just shoot and be done with you.
