I bought the clamp on brake and could not be happier. No effect
on accuracy and diminished recoil to 30 30 Win levels makes the rifle
a joy to shoot for long strings.

No, not original to K31 and not Swiss Army issue and No, its not
necessary but it sure is nice. Works great, high quality and does not
shoot loose.

This was one of those purchases in the WTH category, it struck me one day
and I said: Why Not ? If nothing else , it makes the weapon look good.. and it does.

It is a fun device to have on the snout of the K31 and I am glad I bought it. As I grow
older and get aches and pains in shoulders, I will appreciate the brake even more.

That's actually the reason Dad developed it, MPL. For himself. It was so effective he put it in the product line.
