Dating a FRMP 1909 Argentine Carbine

Post by indy1919a4 »

So picked up a FRMP 1909 carbine which had a serial Number in the low 200s with an "A" Prefix.

Now I have Seen a few FRMP Carbines and the serial Number are 0xxxxx 6 digits in length. But I have never seen one with a "A" prefix. This serial number is
A002xx so still 6 spaces, but only 5 digits and a letter..

Anyone seen that Prefix before and where does it fit in with this topsy turvy world we live in..??

That is odd. The 2nd variant serial numbers should also have started at 005001. This variant (with the Gendarmeria Nacional below the crest) were made between 1949 & 1959.
