Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Picked up a 1903 Springfield

#1 Post by Hippycrowe » Fri Jun 01, 2018 12:28 pm

Picked up a nice 1903 Springfield 1928 barrel that is perfect I think this one was a Forestry service rifle because of the repair on the stock.

Nice!

Is the S/N in the "safe to shoot" range?

Hippycrowe

Not sure but I thought the Springfield "S" stocks had finger grooves? Could be a Remington stock 1903 stock? What do you think?

It's a replacement stock only Elmer Keith stamp no p mark. From what I have read that little repair is were a device was put on so Forestry service randgers could mount the rifle to the place they shot from and kill bears and wolves in the parks. Not sure if its true can't believe everything you read but many 1903 rifles were sent to others in the Govt like forestry post office and prisons.

Ahhh. Thanks for the clarification!

I like the ladder sight w/ peep and the windage knob!

Very accurate and of course......you need to get the 1905 bayo ( if you don't have one already )

Rifle looks to be in great condition.
