Old west Bullet mould, for Vetterli??

Post by KneverKnew »

Found the 10.4 mm Swiss Vetterli rifle bullet mould blocks at Old West Bullet Moulds. Anyone use these?
External lube rings with heeled design for black powder load I’m assuming. Am I correct that these would not be appropriate for smokeless powder loads?

Double cavity mould blocks 330 grain .432" driving bands .725" long from heel crimp groove. Heel is .424" diameter and .250" long for total bullet length of .975"

Or are there better hollow based heeled designs to match original ammo configuration?
Currently using lee430/310 gas checked for smokeless loads.

I'd have zero reservations using that bullet w/ smokeless loads.

What lube would you use on the exposed lube rings?

I just put bullets in a ziplok bag & tumble w/ a squirt of Lee liquid Alox, then set them on a piece of wax paper or plastic to dry.

I have alox so that is doable.

Am I correct in that with a heeled bullet such as this you would use as dropped from the mould and not sized?
