Here is a strange rifle (at least to me) I was hoping someone could tell me about it. Thank you.

sporterized Swedish Mauser.

not much to say about it , someone took a military M96 Swedish Mauser 6.5x55mm and made into a "hunting rifle"

why was the barrel threaded? only the person that did that would know. silencer? possibly?
COOL IT WITH THE BOOM-BOOMS!! OVA-DAY!!

The threaded barrel was done by the Swedes for attachment of a wooden practice bullet shredder. The woodworking skills look to be Bubba, likely from the US after importation.

Yep, a 96 Swede Mauser, made in 1901, that someone cut the stock down on. From what I can see on the stock disc, the bore should be in decent shape. It was Sweden's issue military rifle from 1895 to 1938, when it was replaced by the shorter M38 version.

There are muzzle caps (to protect those threads) and flashhiders available for the threaded barrels, which were for as described above.

6.5x55 is a great round, good ballistic coefficient and penetration, light recoil. The .30-06 of Scandinavia.

Should make for an interesting scout rifle with that LER scope, and capable on any North American game, save maybe the big bears. Given the 6.5's penetration, even they may not be off the table.
