I have a 1942 Savage No. 4 MK I *. ......... It has a double flip peep site, one set for 300 yards the other for 800, I believe. It's not in front of me but my pictures of it are posted on this same forum under,"my No. 1942 Savage..... lend lease.". .. Or something like that. Sorry for not being more specific.

The post war rifle should have the Mark I (milled micrometer) sight. The wartime rifles could have came with any sight though the "L" type would be, by far, the most common. If they had a post war FTR the sight could also have been upgraded.

77C84xx would make it a late 1943.

Is the MK2 sight stamped MK 11 with the small peep hole?

+1

Today I picked up a 1950 LB, appaers 100% original near unissued condition. It has a Mk1 backsight and it's stamped with a almost L over B, no the normal L over B I see on my early LB's. This almost looks cast in the metal. Haven't had time to take it apart to inspect yet.
