I'm going to slug my barrel in the AM and see what the size really is.

I just slugged my rifles bore. After six readings the bore is .312. The lands are close to .309 but not owning a three point caliper my readings are an estimate for the lands. So,the bullets are "land riding" which is not conducive for any great accuracy. I will load up some .312,.313 bullets and see how well it shoots.
I have several boxes of 7.62x39 124 grain bullets. They range from .309 to the max of .3105

Hmm if the bore is reading .312 on average, using some .312 loads on average should
I believe, tighten up the groups a bit more for ya. I m going to check some of mine x39 and see what they are reading at

I loaded up some Sierra 150 grain SPFB bullets that when deep seated and no compressing the powder will fit the magazine. They are .312. I have some .313 bullets but they are too long to load safely.
With the rifling twist of 1:10.5" there will be no problem of bullet stabilization.

I like these conical base IMI 7.62x39 FMJ bullets. The theory is they will bump up in oversize barrels. Not sure they make any .314" size bore gun a match rifle...but a good theory I guess.

Don't think these are mfg by IMI or anyone today.

The larger bullets did much much better than you'd think. Groups were noticeably smaller at 300 yards. I think using a larger than .310 bullet will really improve everyone's accuracy.

That is a nice example. The vz 52 is one of the Czech guns missing from my collection. I've always been holding off on finding a 7.62x39 converted one like yours.

I've used Hornady .312 150gr bullets to good success in mine.

had my VZ52 for 4 years, it had the tar black paint job but upon taking it apart and cleaning off the preservative grease i found a spotless action with only small amounts of stain under the piston on the barrel no rust. the biggest thing the bore is immaculate with sharp lands and shiny like new bore. i forget where i got my brand new walnut stock set from but i think he stopped doing them. my lap tops hard drive died and i haven't got everything off it yet. the scope base is for an SKS and fits perfect.
hornady 123 gr SST's at 2650 FPS !!!! shot great during site in but i found out if you don't get the re4ar locking clamp locking properly every time you shoot the upper hand guard blows loose !!! got that fixed just waiting for the weather to break :) oh buffalo arms makes 7.62X45 ammo 20 rounds for about $60 or so. works great and reloads great too.
