Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Matching Numbers on French MAS Rifles

#1 Post by capt14k » Sun Jul 30, 2017 9:16 am

I moved the matching numbers for MAS bolt rifles to the proper section.

Matching numbers for MAS Semi Auto Rifles as provided by Kelt below.

MAS-44 & MAS-49

1) Receiver
2) Bolt
3) Butt Stock
4) Fore Stock
5) Trigger Guard
6) Cover

Post Mid 1960's Refurb will not have numbered Fore Stock.

I will try and update with reference pics from my examples.

MAS-49/56

1) Receiver
2) Bolt
3) Cover

On the semi auto rifles MAS 44 and 49 the numbered parts were the receiver, the stock, the trigger guard, the bolt cover plate and the bolt, all other parts deemed interchangeable without loss of efficiency did not get marked, on the MAS 49-56 the stock and trigger guard markings were left out, the refurbished Mas 44 and 49 may also miss some markings.

An exception for the MAS 49-56 MSE, each trigger block being fine tuned individually, the trigger guard had a specific marking including the SN.

Is both the fore and butt stock numbered on the 44 and 49? Are the only matching parts on the MAS-45 the receiver and the bolt?

Are same parts serialized on 36 and 36/51 as I posted?

Out of the factory the forend of the Mas 44 and 49 were numbered, if refurbished after the mid 60s,the replacement parts were not numbered.

Informations on the Mas 36 family are best posted on the bolt action rifles section.

Thank You,
I didn't realize they split the French Section into Bolt Action and Semi-Auto.
