1860 Colt Anger

Post by shoggoth80 »

Seriously. Bought a very pretty used Uberti from my local fun store. I didn't give it too thorough a look over, as it appeared in nice shape. I get it home and start looking it over after work...
Barrel has wiggle, cylinder gap is about twelve thousandths... Google tells me it's supposed to be two to two and a half. Tear it down... There's movement in the arbor. There is a crack in frame where the end sits in the frame, under the hammer. Confirmed... Grease will come out of it if you wiggle it enough. There was no "as is" disclaimers on the sale tag. I paid about $280 out the door.

I'm livid. I gotta wake up early to go back, and hard nose for a refund. I didn't want this to be a faulty gun. It's otherwise beautiful. But I can't shoot it, and I don't but $300 paperweights. Why is it that I can inspect it more thoroughly than the guy their paying to put them out on the shelf? I'm literally losing sleep in this. I haven't been this angry in a while.

If they don't refund, they're gonna get flamed hard core on all the forums, and I'll probably make a few phone calls to varying business organizations.

Apologies for the typos. It was late. Yes they refunded. Full. The guy behind the counter had no clue what an arbor was. Then tried to tell me the gap was in spec... Which I very quickly corrected. Frustrating, but the money is coming back. On my way to hunt a different CnB revolver as I type.

Good to hear your local gun store is willing to take care of you. That is getting harder and harder to find these days.
