These are some of my 1911 projects. All are in .45ACP. All were a lot of fun to put together. That shiny "pimp gun" probably took the most man hours. Sanding and polishing the stainless frame and slide.
I have not done one for years now and I believe a lot of the parts from Sarco have dried up. Frames can still be had for around $200. Makes it less than $400 unless you want to go with some other parts like I did. I changed the style of hammer on most of mine. Well that link is a partial dud. Scroll down to kits and their less frame kit is available for about $150. Whoops, Just noticed that is less frame and slide. You can get slides elsewhere for less than their compensated one.
