With all the panic buying of every type firearm out there, I was sitting around on New years eve day and thought I had better do my part. Since Century had the good/incomplete chinese sks's in stock, I ordered 2. Thought I had better get a couple before they're gone. Took them almost a month to get them to me and of course they're still showing in stock but I'm glad I ordered them.
They came with enough cosmolene to last the rest of my life. The first one is a six digit non-matching numbers. Came in a laminated stock. All the parts are there. The only thing I can find wrong is the rear sling hanger where it meets the stock is loose so it slides slanted through the clamp. Other than that, it has extensive light pitting. It must of been used allot before being dunked in the cosmo tank. Bore looks great and it should be a nice shooter.
The second one has more matching numbers but I think it was the trigger and mag didn't match. Really nice blueing, no rust at all. It's a 3 million series. Nothing missing, just the stock is a little beat up. Another winner.
I'm in the process of cleaning them (nothing like being covered by cosmo up to your elbows) and will have completed pics up in a week or so.

I saw some at a gun show last weekend that were almost as nice as yours for a mere $459!!!
I passed on 'em and probably got the best deal there: a nice 1945 L-E Jungle Carbine and a box of ammo for $250...

Geez,

I have to start ordering me some of these Century incompletes, u fix ems! i think most of em are stuff milsurp newbies sent back because the stock had a ding or scratch on it, or some blueing was worn off, or the numbers did not match, or it had too much cosmoline!

Those were nice pickups! Congrats!

Thanks for posting that!

Just ordered one myself. I was looking for one to Tapco out. I have an all matching Yugo that will stay as is after I did a refinish of the wood. She is a real sweet looker.

I got one locally from a friend, and also got one from RRC Firearms in Oregon. He has a few Chinese Type 56 for $335.

Got finished cleaning them this morning. Got some pics of the rusted 6 digit one. The other looks almost new. They're functional checked and all dressed up in their warhorse stocks. The laminated stock has some grain in it that in the sun has a red color to it.
The only thing wrong with them, other than the rust on one and a ton of cosmo, is the rear sling hanger. It's missing the piece of metal that holds the swivel in the clamp. That's why it goes all wonky. I have another one but it's not a big deal.
I need to find time to put some rounds through them later in the week.

jbs I'm going to blame you and this post for me motivated me, I bought one too.

From the looks of it ours came from the same batch same style serial numbers and /26\ stamp. Looks like mine is a little more rough came with less cosmo and more rust. The bluing I guess is about 20% and almost gone. Barrel has been recently re-crowned and not much rifling near the end of the barrel looks dirty but ok further back might be able to counter bore? I'm concerned it isn't going to be a good shooter the barrel is the worst one I have. The follower doesn't release I think that's becasue its full of old sticky cosmoline. The numbers match and looks like everything is there so worse case I spent $200 on a parts kit less a barrel. An interesting thing about the stock is the carvings I assumed since it's Chinese it came from China but the characters aren't Chinese.

It actually doesn't look that bad. Looks like it needs a new stock. Sarco has them. $20 for no handguard and $25 with a handguard.
The word is they were given to Albania (I think) by the chineese, so lots of carrying adn some use. Once you clean it and shoot it, it might be better than you think. Won't know till you try it.
Wd40 will liquify the cosmo and you can wipe it off. Pour boiling water over the trigger group and take the bolt apart to clean and check the firing pin. I ran hot water down the bore when disassembled to clean the cosmo out of the gas hole. Finger over the muzzle and there was enough pressure to push the cosmo out of it.
If you don't like it after shooting it, dress it in a new stock and sell it. I have no doubt you'd get more than you invested, especially since the only ones left are the poor incompletes at century. At worst, the value of the parts add up to what it cost (probably more) but should be worth more as a complete rifle.

Here is the 1970's era Police Security Forces Norinco I already had.

Image

And here is the recent one I got from RRC, an early chinese. I put it in a Russian stock I had already, the stock under it is the stock it came with after cleaning it up. The old stock is serviceable, but rough.

Image

And how it was in it's cosmo glory, and then torn down for cleanup..
