My Viet Nam bring backs

Post by Sarge »

My Viet Nam bring backs. Have trophy papers for all but the AK 47 and it was registered during the 68 amnesty.
The 2 SKSs - one NVA u. one chicom, the ruskie Makerov and the Browning HP were brought home by me.

I would love to see closeups and a write up on these, all under the same post/subject seeing they were all brought back by the same person (AKA you). Awesome assortment that is for sure.

Not sure I have close ups of most of these and my camera died a long time ago so can't do anything currently.
When I got the NVA SKS I thought it was ruskie. Didn't find out till much later (article in the Rifleman in the 70s gave me the info) that it was in fact the much rarer NVA. The chicom SKS was one of 300 found buried in west central II Corps area - it is factory brand new - it was a greasy mess when I got it and took some cleaning up.
The ruskie Makerov came from a dead NVA officer, never thought to get the holster & extra mag. Screwed up on that because the mag in the pistol does not match the pistol. The Tokerov I got in a local gun shop a couple of years after I came home, he had the trophy papers & holster with it. The Browning HP is the one I carried almost daily while in RVN. I bought it at a gun shop outside the main gate of Ft Lewis, Wn and took it and a box of Super-Vel hollow points with me. I then registered it as a war trophy so I could bring it home w/o any hassel. Carried it for years, but finally decided I should hang it on the wall and bought another like it for daily use. Both are 60s vintage military contrakt pistols.
The top K98k was picked up in Cambodia out of a bunch found there. The sling is from a PPSh. The 98k with the stock cut off came from the VC. Someone had tried to lighten it up I guess, by cutting off part of the stock and throwing away the hand guard and bbl bands. It came from the widow of a helicopter pilot who had brought it home, but didn't bother doing the paper work.
The AK 47, an early all milled one, came from an SF guy at Ft Bragg, NC.

My uncle was there in 67 he wishes he had brought home some of the BAR s he found in a weapons cash they uncovered. There was every weapon you could imagine hundreds of Brand new SKS rifles they put explosives on the and blew all it up.

AK Bringback!! Did you have some problem to register it?
