What can someone tell me about a CAI Garand? I saw one that had just sold for $250. Are they modern copies or what?

Commercial copies done 20+ years ago, usually poorly done.No collector value, and I would not own one if offered to me.
Don't waste your money. They are usually junk and thus the price reflects it.

CAI Garand with nothing stamped on the receiver heel or a CAI Import?
If a CAI Garand I agree with M14man with the exception that I would have bought it in a heartbeat for $250.00 for parts!!!
If a CAI Import its also a steal at $250.00

Thanks guys. I had heard of these but, didn't know much about them. When I saw that one had sold for $250, I thought why so cheap.

I have dealt with two CAI receivered M1 Garands over the years. One operated and shot fine and my advice to the owner was to keep it, shoot it, and enjoy it. The other had reliability issues that in the end I think had to do with poor machining in the guide rail slots for the follower. The Cmp North Store had grade "C" receivers for $95.00 each about that time. So we bought one, swapped it out with the CAI receiver and everything took off running just fine.

But I'm with Orlando on this one. I would have bought a CAI receivered Garand for $250.00 in a hot minute.

Surplusboy is probably looking for his first Garand. I don't think he needs to waste money on parts. My advise would still be the same to a first time buyer. Stay away. For those that have a couple Garands, the parts salvaged from it would be worth it.

I've got a '44 WRA that I need to put my replacement barrel on. The barrel on it(which is a '52 Springfield)is in bad shape. I've shot it and it keyholes pretty bad.
