Renewal

#1 Post by Markeb2800 » Sun Jun 18, 2017 1:03 am

FYI: I renewed my license this spring. It was about 3 weeks from dropping it in the mail to receiving my new license. I thought that was pretty quick for government work....

I was sent a renewal notice about a month before the expiration date. I received the new one in about the same time; really quick turn around.

So far I'm at 3 1/2 weeks into my renewal. I know that they cashed my check so it's just a matter of time.

It took about 3 weeks for my address change. A little faster that I anticipated.

I renewed in May also and it only took 3 weeks. It came back so fast I thought I was denied when I saw it in the mail box. Fastest return yet on a renew.

You cant use the check cashing as any kind of a timing tool as the first place the renewal goes to is the bank folks, Since three weeks plus a little seems to be the consensus, if you haven't seen it by four to five weeks I'd call the folks in WV who handle the renewals. One time I waited the six or eight weeks before I called to find out they couldn't find it. They were real nice about it and got me one in 4 days after the call.

if you don't want your C+R anymore you just don't send in the renewal from, right?

ok found it... from the horses mouth;

"Are licensed collectors required to turn in their acquisition and disposition records to ATF if they discontinue their collecting activity?

No. Licensed collectors are not required to submit their records to ATF upon discontinuance of their collecting activity.

[18 U.S.C. 923(g)(4); 27 CFR 478.127]"

Sending in your book is not required. You can keep the book for your own records or discard it. Don't take my work for it though, looks it up. It's right on their webpage.
