Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Pot Metal Finishing

#1 Post by ffuries » Sat May 18, 2019 12:10 pm

I have my dad's old JP Sauer & Sohn Western Marshall that he bought while we were stationed at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho from 75-77.

The ejector tube is made of pot metal or something, in fact the lip of the tube that inserts into a hole is partially broken off. I have a replacememt one on order as we speak.

Back to the issue, the ejector tube doesn't hold a finish very well. Is there something I can finish it with that would make it look better. Not looking to refinish the revolver itself.

Didn't know if something appliance paint would stick to the pot metal better, or if there was a trick to treat it that would allow it to adhere better. In the below picture you can see how bad the original ejector tube looks.

Thanks in advance.

A semi gloss epoxy paint after a slight roughing up with coarse steel wool
A semi gloss powder coating which is very easy to do and will never wear off.
