Soldiering

Post by jaytex1969 »

Back in the day, we'd be in the field and one of our battalion Sergeant Majors would arrive, pressed and spit-shined, yelling about how good it was to see "his men" "soldiering".

At some point , someone got the notion to look up the definition of "soldiering" in the dictionary.

One of the official definitions of "soldiering" is to make a false pretense of work to avoid punishment.

From that point forward, we were always happy to concur with the SM that we were, in fact, "soldiering".

Well, My Sgt and I did all the work. The Major rode around in his M151 and took pictures.
