Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

M44 with RWD marking

#1 Post by Str8pull » Sat Mar 28, 2020 11:37 am

I picked up this interesting M44 at a gun show a few years ago for $250 which I thought was too good a price to turn down even though I wasn't sure about it as I had never seen or heard of one with this marking. It's in great condition every thing matches except the bolt. So far I can only find limited info on the web on some old posts. Apparently it may have been re barreled in East Germany than sent to Egypt. Was wondering if this is correct and about the rarity of it and if anyone might have any info to add.

:text-bravo:

Miller Tyme, ssg-lord, or Martin 08 are the guys that might have a clue? Looks neat, but  :confusion-shrug: I would PM ssg-lord. I did it for you
in order to see what he thinks.

Is this your rifle? RWD stamped. https://www.russian-mosin-nagant-forum. ... hp?t=29074

also see RWD very rare & who imported them: https://forums.gunboards.com/showthread ... n-Markings

Could you please photo document that baby with close up views of all markings, bolt, trigger, band markings cleaning rod type & markings, sling top & markings, import mark & its location, front bayonet lug, stock & stock markings, butt plate and more. PLEASE, say 20 or more close up views of that specimen. Fantastic M44.

It's not my rifle in the russian mn forum. Thanks for those links I hadn't seen those ones yet. I will try to take a bunch of close ups later today. Not sure how good the quality will be as I recently broke the lcd screen on my digital camera so I have to take alot of pictures blindly then just use the best ones.

Here's a few pics for starters, unfortunately there's no cleaning rod and I don't know if the sling is original. The bolt is not matching.

Thanks for looking if you would like anymore or better pics let me know. As for import marks I don't think there are any unless they are hidden under the wood. I don't think they're required here in Canada.

Very nice M44, thanks for the heads up 72 usmc! The links in post #2 are the only information I've ever seen on these RWD marked Mosins, given the source I'd say its accurate. As for its rarity I'd say its quite a scarce variant, I've been collecting Mosins for 20+ years and I've never seen one in person and only a handful of times in pictures.
