Hungarian 91/30

Post by vandle »

I had this rifle up on the SRF previously but thought I will put it back up.

After the war many Soviet Bloc Satilite States started producing their own copies of the Nagants.
Hungary was no different, manufacturing 91/30 from 1950-54 prior to commencing production of the M44.
Hungarian Nagants can be identified by the 02 codes on the receivers and butt stock.

Hi Paswissshooter1

I'm pleased with it.
Its all matching and the condition of the bore and stock lets me think it was never issued.

There was the Hungarian Revolution which happened in 1956 in which the Hungarian Communist Government was overthrown.
The Soviets then decided to crush the revolution by invading Hungary's capital Budapest.

One can assume that these rifles may have been used at this time.

Many ended up in Vietnam often as 91/30 PU Sniper rifles.

You never see a Russian, or Finn, 91/30 stock with grain detail like that. What type of wood do you think they used ? Beautiful.

I have never seen a 91/30 02 Hungarian at a gun show, only M44 examples. And a matching example, perfect!
