We will post items that sell and will put up new inventory as it comes in ASAP.

Just realize we don't have trucks of stuff arriving daliy like the big guys and it is just the 3 of us here working to get inventory, take orders, pack and ship everything as well as deal with the everyday lives. Yes, I actually have a life. Well sometimes that is if we don't have a ton of orders, gun shows, phone calls, honey to do list.... well ok I don't have a life but at least I love what I do so I guess it counts for something and we are all in it together.

That's not our fault. Maybe if you quit selling great guns and started selling crap like those which shall not be named you wouldn't have so much work. Maybe if whenever we called you didn't say well I don't have that now but I will look for it instead of hanging up.

+1 on losing the sound.
+1 on doing something a la AIM (most all the others are less than professional).
+1 on keeping it simple and updated.

The wife and I said when we started,we will treat people how we wanted to be treated, we wouldn't sell anything we wouldn't keep or use ourselves and keep price as low as possible. Besides, looking for a gun a person needs for their collection is half the fun and good business. You find it, you have a customer for life! Granted I also find cool stuff for myself

I'd keep the design simple. AIM's design is my favorite with SOG running in second. What really helps are good photos. If you can put up good photos of what you've got, they speak for themselves.

And thanks for ditching the sounds. =D>

I like Empire-Arms website. He deals in small quantities and has individual pictures of his items. If you find a cross between AIM and Empire you'll be on to a winner. Just keep in mind that if you come up with a good design, everyone else will copy it!

Id say have a highly visible link to your section of the forums on the front page, maybe even next to or below your header. Maybe something along the lines of "Join us at SurplusRifleForums!" Or something that quickly lets the reader know that you are actively involved with your customers. Its one thing to have testimonials pasted on your web page but IMO its much more powerful when you see it straight from the source.

...nope,I do this on the side...done a lotta deals for folks-way less than I coul've charged .....been mainly a hobby for ages...some were done as gifts, for others to others,or from me for special occasions have had a few "commisioned" ones-the Beatles is one.....folks dont seem to grasp how long some of this stuff takes-or what the 'labor' costs I once had a person offer me $50 bucks for a portrait I did...they had no idea that it took me 80 hours of work to do it(it was lifesize)...I told them that even if I used an "hourly rate" of a meager $10/hour (which is not how its done) and it took 80 hours-to do the math....they got pale and said "uh oh.....never mind..." and walked off........I'd need a steady stream of clients and charge big bucks(which no one seems to have anymore) to make a living from it,or just a few a year-but for mega bucks....believe me,I'd love to...

.....will work for milsurps  ...

I agree with everyone else, Aim has an awesome site. I check it all the time. Keep it simple, have a link to check for new arrivals. Prices on the inventory. You may want a special section for those one of a kinds you stumble into, similar to empire. And 50% off for regular surpusrifleforum users, and a free gun on our birthdays.

Well I'll be switched. It's my birthday next sunday! Free gun please!

Todd, how's the new website coming. Any updates? I keep checking to see if you have listed your inventory, but no changes yet. Keep us posted. :thumb:

One thing i will say and of course its your website so in the end you do what you want but I hate it when i go to a site and see a gun and it tells me to call for price. I want to see the gun and the price right there, even if it says call for availability thats better as once i see the price i know if its worth it to me to call and see if its still for sale, If there is no price, you have just lost my interest and sale.
