Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

M59 Long Barrel

#1 Post by Greasemonkey » Thu Jun 22, 2017 12:19 pm

I was a member a long time ago.. Figured this would be a good ice breaker. :D

This is a M59 Yugoslavian Long Barrel.. it's thought to be a Yugoslavian prototype and even possibly made prior to the regular M59. It is also the only SKS with a windage screw adjustable front sight. There are are maybe, 35 known to exist in the US currently, and all have serials less than 100. The barrels on these have been found in 2 different lengths, a 21 and a half and 22 and a half inches vs the standard 20.5 inch barrel. This example has the 22.5 inch barrel.

Since the SKS is a Carbine, did they call this SKS a rifle? Very nice!

Thanks.. It's technically still an SKS, and the K is for Karabin

I wonder if they were suppose to be a sharp shooter model with a scope or to get more velocity out of their M67 ammo.

I wouldn't think. A M59/66 has a 22 inch barrel as well, and is also more likely to be found with a field expedient scope mount. None of these have been found with a scope mount.
