Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.
100 Dollar Norweagian Krag Carbine "sporter"
100 Dollar Norweagian Krag Carbine "sporter"
I got a "carbine' of Norwegian make in 6.5x55 Swede yesterday for 100 bucks. It has been Sporterized ( Bubba'd for you youngsters)The bore is dark with very strong rifling.
The stock is cut, slings and butt plate filled in and a 60's White line recoil pad put on.
After getting some feed back on the web, the carbine is most likely a cut down rifle and not a 1912 carbine. The barrel is now 24". The barrel serial number is forced matched at the factory. The front sight has been added? The bolt does not match serial number.
It may still be a good shooter. I'll find out next weekend.

Its probably a massacred m94 long rifle made for the army.
Re: 100 Dollar Norweagian Krag Carbine "sporter"
Is that front sight adjustable or is that some kind of staking piece? Were those designed to shoot the same load as the 96 Swede Mauser? Great looking rifle for $100

Nice pick up. I hope it'll shoot for you.

My first centerfire rifle was a 30-40 Krag sporter. Got it on my 12th birthday back in 1958.
I suspect some Scandinavian lad had a similar experience with Rob’s carbine decades ago.

Re: 100 Dollar Norweagian Krag Carbine "sporter"
I shot the "carbine" at 500 yards today in the wind. Since it is a cut down rifle, the barrel nodes are not quite up to par for extreme accuracy. That being said, with my reloads it did shoot well. The target,a man upper torso in AR550. 140 grain .264 FMJ's over Reloader-15.
I fired 20 rounds to see how well it would shoot and clean out the dark bore. Speaking of which,I have not slugged as of yet.
The carbine hit the target 12 times. Most misses were just inches off the target with a couple being close to a foot. In the 15 MPH wind there may have been hidden gust that pushed the bullet farther off target.
Trigger pull is mushy. Not sure why. The adjustable front sight as easy to move using snap ring pliers that fit the holes in the screw.
Recoil was mild. The action was Krag smooth as one would suspect.
While I cannot use the carbine in my clubs matches due to it no longer being in issued condition,it is still fun to shoot. It would do very well out to 300 yards as it is.
