OK, I know it's not a trainer but it is the final Evolution of one , that being the Mossberg 44 U.S. Got this one off Auction Arm's last month. Applied a little 1/3 Finn mix to the wood(y'all know I'm addicted to the stuff), a little fooling around with the trigger and I am very pleased with. I will be shooting it in a club rim fire match this Saturday, look out TOM.
Here's some pictures.

Man, thats nice!
I have a 144 too, but mine is pretty beat up in both the wood and the metal, with some very deep pitting in parts of the metal (I did get it for like $240 though). I have found the trigger on mine to be a beast, its the one thing I really can't stand on it, and thats with messing with the 'adjustable' trigger. Ive found mine to work well enough for informal matches with my shooting club.
What exactly is 'finn mix', I really like the way your wood turned out.

My trigger is not so nice as well but I'm working on it. I also need to enlarge the radius of it(I got big ole fingers). I shot my best ever standing round in a match with mine Saturday 96 out of a 100. That was the only brite spot of the match I stunk up the place in the surplus match, pulled three for no score standing with my 1968 M39. The 1/3 mix, here's Tom's site.

Singleshot - don't worry, no one is expected to win the first match you ever shoot with a rifle. Heck after that wonderful group I shot last week with mine, you see what the match results were. We'll get em' next time. Oh, and Guys, the pictures on his link don't do the rifle much justice - it's gawgeous! Definitely one of the prettiest Mossbergs I've ever seen. Tom

Made an aluminum stock spacer and made the O.D of my peep bigger. Look out Tom I'm coming after you in tomorrow's match.
