Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.

Too bad our previous posts and stickies are gone.
There were quite a few great pages there. Lots of knowledge is gone.
You could always explore the wayback machine (archive.org) and see what you can find to copy/paste to help the forum in rebuilding.
Elricfate, is there some trick to doing this effectively? I have tried a couple of times, with varying degrees of failure. . . .
I'd love to see a thread with simple instruction about how to reanimate posts.

Of course, it's possible that I'm just that un-tech-savvy.

There's no trick to it, really. You just go to the Archive.org version of the website, go into the threads you've made (or others on the forum), copy and paste.

Here's a quick warning.

If you post a bunch just to get to the classifieds forum without any real substance to the posts I am going to remove the permissions without hesitation. 8-)

I started seeing the classified section at 30 posts. No one has posted there yet. Be the first.
Got a couple Mausers to sell. I don't know if I have any more dingbat posts in me, though. Have to struggle to 30.

Now that is funny   . I see they got chopped. Lets see, we have 383 re-registered members today out of the 28,519 that we had on 17 March 2017. SRF has had 2 major crashes one around 2005-2006 and the big one in 2017. We just pick ourselves up, and brush off the dust, and keep on going. So repost some of the old greats you guys wrote. Some of the old pistol/rifle id photo archives of specific finds. Make a effort to restore your more popular posts especially if you still have the lost photos on you computer. Some members had select specimens that should be re-photo documented so others can see what a nice Yugo k98 or Israeli k98 looks like. Start a post on what the many import marks look like and the history of the change in size and location, We could use a post on how to search out the old SRF post you saved on Wayback and how to goggle attach a PDF of the original. I am still trying to get photos of all the M57 crests. Help re do the stickies.

As far as members????? Times have changed. The second Golden age of Surplus Firearms is over. Considering the lack of imports of surplus firearms and cheep ammo, the steep price increase on surplus military firearms, and a general dislike for hunting and gun ownership, the young, college liberals do not deal in firearms-- no hunting, no shooting, no conceal carry, no collecting. They tend to trade off family military stuff for other things. At gun shows all you mainly see is the over 45 age group and lots of ancient, older than dirt guys 60+. The guys with one foot in the grave no longer buy stuff unless its a real deal or super condition. I wonder how long it will take to get to 5,000 members, let along 28,000.
To old to fight and to old to run, a Jar head will just shoot and be done with you.

Also looking forward to the classifieds section, though at 30 posts it'll be a while, since b.s. filler posts don't count.

You could always post a few targets. That's what I'm going to do next, if it ever stops raining here. There are three postal shoots running right now, IIRC.

Oh man...30???
This is going to be hard. Can I just get a wayback machine check on my over 900 posts and get a pass? HA HA HA....I dont talk that much here since I am not really an expert at anything...just a collector.
