Well, the board is either fixed, or it's going to run terribly. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm at my technical limit right now.
Finally got a Beretta 92
Finally got a Beretta 92
Well I finally grabbed a Beretta 92 - this is one of the many Italian imports that have arrived this past year or so. Finally AIM had them on sale for $299 and I just had to take the plunge. Now my Beretta 96 has a friend.
While waiting for it to arrive, I ordered up three mags from Beretta since this model only takes the old-style mags. With two mags you got a free speed loader and I added one more mag to reach the "free" shipping amount. The pistol is very clean and I'm anxious to get it to the range and see how it does.
Everyone's been selling these - let's see some pics of your recent Beretta 92 acquisitions.

I like those pistols. I grabbed 2 of em. Those actions are smooth as silk when you rack a round into the pipe.

Re: Finally got a Beretta 92
Those are some very nice examples of the Beretta 92S pistols that have been available the last few years off and on. I picked up a couple nice ones too. No sense in adding a picture since they look just like the ones above. If you don't have one of these, you really should consider getting one. They are fantastic guns and most are in very good to excellent condition.

Re: Finally got a Beretta 92
Those 92S pistols were for sale up here but nowhere near 299$, especially given that we essentially have a "Petro Dollar" up here in Canada, our currency has tanked against the greenback. Everything up here firearm related costs almost 50% more.

Southern Ohio Gun has them in Good to VG condition for $279 or mechanically excellent condition for $309.

Re: Finally got a Beretta 92
The 92S will take the same magazines as the M9, 92FS, and other Beretta Model 92s. Here's my 92S:

All in all, a good pistol, with some fair, honest wear. It shoots very nicely too!

Re: Finally got a Beretta 92
So the site lives again
I have one holding, should be able to pick it up Saturday. I looked at various offerings (SOG, AIM, Palmetto), but dallied too long to get one from them at the time. Just found mine on Gunbroker, with a different import mark (on the front, right side of the frame, instead of on the slide). Got a chance to inspect it, and it seems in nice condition, and the price was right. I'm interested in comparing it to my '94 vintage FS (was once LAPD).
Also going to test some cheap mags I have laying around... picked up a couple Taurus aftermarket mags, for a different project. They seem to have the bottom notch cutout for the mag release (it's there, will see if compatible).

Re: Finally got a Beretta 92
Mine was released today, and has made it's way home already.
Attractive gun- a matte blue finish on the slide with a little wear on the sharp corners, and some speckling of wear on the grip section of the frame.
The Taurus mags in question- they fit and lock back the slide fine by hand. Will check them at the range to confirm. BTW they came from Sarco, I got them when they were $13, now they're $15. Here's a link to the mag, that seems to be a solid price for a 15 rd mag if it works mag that seems to fit in Beretta 92S
The import mark is clean and light, R Guns (and address) on the front right side of the frame, the slide is untouched. I'm gonna rub some Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black on that, and see if I can make it less visible. The gunbroker seller is the importer (search for R Guns), and he has a number of these. I'm quite impressed with what I got, price was under $250 + shipping.
Will post some pics soon.

These pistols have one very good trait. They are very accurate.

I also like how they look...and their construction quality and reliability is pretty good too. Of course I'm a Beretta fan anyway, and have a few.Rapidrob wrote:These pistols have one very good trait. They are very accurate.

Went to the range, it was all you could ask for in terms of accuracy. My 2 cheap Taurus donor mags worked 100%.

Good looking Beretta. I'll be looking for a 92FS in the near future, seeing I carried the M9 in the USAF.
