Here is a picture...I have never owned a French rifle before. Looks like it needs some parts, but should shoot the way it is...think I could find the parts?

Its probably going to be pretty difficult to get ahold of the parts for that rifle.Replacement stocks are non existent and barrel bands arent very common either.Id pass on that one.

tater134 is correct in that finding any replacement stocks and barrel bands is going to be very difficult to find anymore.
This one has been sporterized as well as it should have two barrel bands, a front and rear.

Ya, thank you guys. I couldn't tell if the wood was cut down or it was missing the front metal.

$85 bucks though...

If you can get it for $65-70 it might be worth buying for parts if it comes with the spares in the photo. If the owner has any of the 3 shot clips for it theyre worth about $20 each so if you can get a few of those its probably worth it.

What the heck...for that price, you can't lose as long as it fires safely. Just think, if you can't find the correct barrel bands you could create a "rare wire wrapped" French carbine! :D

It might be a good project that offers true enjoyment on the quest rather than the discovery.

8mm seems a little anemic for hunting to me. Any of you hunt with 8mm?

There are a number of Elephants or Rhinoceros in central and west Africa who would disagree with you but can't since they were head shot by Berthier short rifles using the standard military ammo with its monolithic D bullet, by professional Ivory hunters such as Théodore Lefebvre.

But then again I have known many a person who has taken many forms of game with a 22lr. But that does not make a 22lr a wise choice or a humane choice.
