I bought a Mod 98 and its suppose to be a german refubished by yugo ..It has a two position blued bolt saftey . and a external mag and I can find no references to this rifle
Barrel is marked 8mmX57

A refurbished yugo K98k should look just like any other K98k but with different markings. Sounds like it has a trench mag attached. We need pictures or more information to help you any more.

It does have a yugo crest !Its been drilled and tapped for scope rail and scope rail mounts fine and is tapped properly.Has a detachable box mag I guess cause you cant load it easy from top?maybe after market for a sporter project?

did you get that last weekend at the kc gun show from that guy that was selling a bunch of his collection?

Really weird mag, never seen one like that on a Mauser. Looks almost like a K31's mag but more modern. Maybe a modified mag from a modern rifle? :think:

Mag is too perfect to be a modified mag looks to be commecial made will try and get a pic tommorrow of it and post it

The mag is a three shot mag and no markings of any kind..The bolt has a different saftey lever than I have seen on a mauser so need help ID it, bolt is blued saftey is only on or off ,, Stock has 1.TRZ stamped on one side and yugo restamps on other

The mag is an aftermarket sold by Numrich. It can be unloaded from the bottom. I bought two for hunting/sporters I have. A regular follower, spring, and floor plate would return your rifle to military configuration.

Again, original poster can replace the commercial safety every easily with a factory original if desired. That and mag can get it back to mil-spec.
