For hunting safely, the bolt of the Mas 36 can be positioned in the "half cock position" over a live round, or closed on a live round with the firing pin released by pulling the trigger when closing it.

By closing the bolt on a live round by pulling the trigger back....the firing pin is resting on a live round. Some folks would consider this "unsafe"?

Is this practice still used?

thanks

Had a refurbed 36 but sold it. The angle of the bolt is not lefty friendly.

Anyone in America looking for a MAS-36 local guy has one for sale marked and matching everywhere but the forestock is not numbered. Great condition. Cursive L block 80xxx. Would that make it 1945? He is asking $550. If interested PM me.

The reason why prices are so high as there are not many in OZ and not many being imported.

Come to think of it, prices are high for all collectible firearms

Please, give us a ball park figure on what you'd expect to pay for something like this? Plus, is ammo readily available?
